HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c849W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when the Government expect to be able to announce the findings of the review of the need for both on and off-street parking facilities for coaches; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

The Government have given a commitment, in the report "Pleasure, Leisure and Jobs", to a review of the scope for making use of publicly owned land, outside local authority control, for off-street coach parking in connection with tourism and leisure. Any initiatives identified in time for the 1986 season will be announced as soon as possible.

On-street parking is a matter for the Greater London council and the boroughs as the traffic authorities. I understand that the GLC is looking at possibilities for increasing facilities for on-street coach parking, and expects to have proposals in the autumn.
