§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Transport when the Government expect to be able to announce the findings of the review of the need for both on and off-street parking facilities for coaches; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Government have given a commitment, in the report "Pleasure, Leisure and Jobs", to a review of the scope for making use of publicly owned land, outside local authority control, for off-street coach parking in connection with tourism and leisure. Any initiatives identified in time for the 1986 season will be announced as soon as possible.
On-street parking is a matter for the Greater London council and the boroughs as the traffic authorities. I understand that the GLC is looking at possibilities for increasing facilities for on-street coach parking, and expects to have proposals in the autumn.
