§ Mr. Leighasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is satisfied that the current level of export credit guarantees for United Kingdom cereals enables United Kingdom grain traders to compete on equal terms with their competitors.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe competitiveness of United Kingdom cereals depends upon a wide range of factors. During the 1984–85 season to date the United Kingdom has exported a record 3.5 million tonnes of barley, arid achieved wheat exports of 2 million tonnes in an over-supplied and highly competitive world market. These figures indicate that United Kingdom grain exporters compete effectively in world markets.
