§ Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list all current or proposed short-term funding initiatives by his Department which include an element of direct services to clients by voluntary organisations which are also within the competence of local social services authorities.
§ Mr. John PattenI refer the hon. Member to my reply today to my hon. Friend the Member for Beaconsfield (Mr. Smith) for a list of our schemes of grants to voluntary organisations, and of the organisations which received grants in 1984–85. In general these schemes of grants maintain the long standing tradition of enabling voluntary organisations to provide services of a kind which the statutory services also have the power to provide.
