HC Deb 25 July 1985 vol 83 cc693-4W
Mr. Strang

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the outcome of the meeting between the Scottish Home and Health Department, the university, the health board and the University Grants Committee on 23 July on the future of the Edinburgh dental hospital.

Mr. John MacKay

A very full and useful discussion took place on 23 July when new proposals for the future of the Edinburgh dental hospital and school were considered. It was accepted that revised proposal for the replacement of the existing dental hospital provide the basis for a more realistic and cost effective approach to the redevelopment of the dental hospital and school than previous studies. Lothian health board and Edinburgh niversity have agreed to develop the proposals further and thereafter submit them for consideration by the Secretary of State and the University Grants Committee.
