HL Deb 24 July 1985 vol 466 c1356WA
Lord Shinwell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the decision to build several new nuclear power stations would be affected in the event of further development by the National Coal Board in the direction of various other forms of coal processing.

Lord Gray of Contin

There has been no such decision. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Energy will make his decision on the CEGB's application to construct a pressurised water reactor power station at Sizewell when he has received the report of the inquiry inspector. Each subsequent application for approval for a power station, whether nuclear or fossil fuelled, will be considered on its merits.
