§ Sir Hector Monroasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the report of the committee of inquiry into the functions and powers of the islands councils of Scotland.
§ Mr. YoungerI have now completed my consideration of this report. Of the 49 recommendations which the committee has made, I accept 37 of them, a few with some qualifications, and I have already implemented a further one. I have today placed in the Library a copy of a statement giving my detailed response to each recommendation.
