§ Sir George YoungIn each of the years 1983–84 and 1984–85 the cash resources made available for the urban programme in England were £348 million. The Government remain committed to tackling the special problems of the inner cities, and will continue to seek to apply the resources available for this purpose in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
