Short asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the contributions which have been made by his Department in each year since 1979 towards doctors' and nurses' annual pay awards.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what methods he is presently examining for linking pay awarded to general practitioners with the quality of their performance and their services.

We are examining the structure of general practitioners' remuneration, but are not yet ready to put forward proposals.
