§ Mr. MellorMy right hon. and learned Friend last met prison governors as a group when he addressed their annual conference on 5 November 1984. But my noble Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State had a wide ranging discussion about current issues, including overcrowding and resource matters, when he met representatives of the governor's branch of the Society of Civil and Public Servants on 25 June 1985, and my right hon. and learned Friend will be meeting representatives of the branch shortly, quite apart from the numerous meetings he has had with individual Governors on a wide variety of occasions.
