§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs pursuant to his answer of 20 May, Official Report, column 336, if he will (a) explain the outcome of his meeting with nongovernmental organisations on the non-proliferation treaty (b) state whether he plans any further meetings with nongovernmental organisations on the non-proliferation treaty before the review conference and (c) state whether his Department intends to provide financial support to nongovernmental organisations to attend the non-proliferation treaty review conference.
§ Mr. LuceWe have had several useful exchanges of view with non-governmental organisations. At all of them there has been general agreement that the non-proliferation treaty must be sustained and strengthened.
295WThe Foreign and Commonwealth Office will continue to keep in touch with non-governmental organisations during the approach to the review conference.
There are unfortunately no official funds available to assist non-governmental organisations to attend the review conference.
