§ Mr. Batisteasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will make a statement concerning his consultations with local authority associations on proposals for changes in the procedures governing the termination of local authority appointments to district health authorities.
§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke[pursuant to his reply, 23 January 1985, c. 458]: An amendment to Regulation 5(3) of the National Health Service (Regional and District Health Authorities Membership and Procedure) Regulations 1983, requiring local authorities to obtain the consent of the Secretary of State for Social Services to the early termination of an appointment to a district health authority will be laid before the House on 16 July. Our officials have written to the local authority associations today informing them of this decision. Copies of the letter have been placed in the Library.
