§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take steps to alter the housing benefit regulations that cover non householders over 18 years on youth training schemes to provide that housing benefit their parents receive is not reduced on the assumption that they are wage-earners.
§ Mr. NewtonRegulation 20(8) of the Housing Benefits Regulations 1985 provides that no deduction shall be made from housing benefit in respect of a non-dependant who is in receipt of a training allowance paid by the Manpower Services Commission in connection with a youth training scheme.
