§ 52. Mr. Pikeasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he will publish his proposals for income scales for those who will be eligible for assistance under his Green Paper proposals about improvement grants.
§ Sir George YoungThe Green Paper explains that our intention is to make the eligibility tests compatible with, even if they cannot be exactly the same as, those for entitlement to housing benefit. The overriding aim, however, will be to ensure that as far as possible the system includes those who are unable to afford necessary improvement and repair work unaided, and excludes those who do not need help. We shall publish our detailed proposals in due course, in the light of responses to the Green Paper.
