§ Mr. Chris Smithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, further to his reply of 2 July, Official Report, column 90, on the designation of World Heritage sites in Scotland, he will list those sites at present under consideration; and what criteria he is using to reach a decision on the selection of proposed sites.
§ Mr. AncramThe criteria are those laid down by the World Heritage Committee in the document "Operational Guidelines for the implementation of the World Heritage convention". I am arranging for a copy to be placed in the Library. An announcement concerning sites will be made as soon as possible.
