§ Mr. Cohenasked the Prime Minister what representations she has received from Mr. Colin Wallace relating to investigations into the Kincora boys' home in Belfast; what request he has made in connection with giving evidence to the current inquiry headed by Mr. Justice William Hughes; what further action she has taken; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterIt is not my practice to reveal the contents of correspondence sent to me by private individuals. I understand that, in view of the possibility that Mr. Wallace may have relevant evidence to give the committee of inquiry into children's homes and hostels in Northern Ireland, the committee approached Mr. Wallace through the governor of Her Majesty's prison, Lewes, with a view to an interview being arranged. Mr. Wallace has asked for certain assurances before the interview is held and I understand that these are being followed up by the committee. There are no grounds for any action on my part at this time.
