§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has any plans to seek to amend the treaty obligations of the United Kingdom regarding CERN; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RentonMy right hon. and learned Friend has at present no such plans.
§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his estimate of the costs of implementing Sir John Kendrew's proposals regarding future United Kingdom participation in CERN; and how these costs are made up.
§ Mr. BrookeI have been asked to reply. The report of the review group chaired by Sir John Kendrew was addressed to the Advisory Board for the Research councils350W and the Science and Engineering Research Council, whose advice my right hon. Friend awaits. That advice will no doubt contain estimates of the implications of certain options, including that favoured by the Kendrew group, related to the United Kingdom's participation in CERN.
