§ Mr. Giles ShawThe Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis attaches great importance to reducing the incidence and fear of street crime. He has made it a priority to increase the number of officers on the beat; and he has also encouraged officers to use public transport, both on and off duty, to provide protection and reassurance for the travelling public.
