§ 61. Mr. Greg Knightasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is satisfied with the security arrangements at British airports; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Michael SpicerBritish airports have achieved a good standard of security. All UK airport authorities have been asked to reinforce their efforts to ensure that security measures are fully complied with. My right hon. friend the Secretary of State for Transport last week held an urgent meeting with some of the major airport and airline interests represented on the National Aviation Security Committee to review security measures in the United Kingdom. I pressed the importance of the need for international co-operation on this matter at a meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organisation in Montreal last Thursday.
