§ 25. Mr. James Lamondasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if his Department has made any estimate of the possible growth in imports of textile and clothing goods from the People's Republic of China in the next five years.
§ Mr. TrippierUnited Kingdom imports of textiles from China are subject to the provisions of the EC-China textile agreement which last until the end of 1988, but their growth will also be affected by various commercial factors. This Agreement falls within the multi-fibre arrangement, and we are pressing for this to be renewed for 4–5 years from July 1986.
