§ Mrs. ChalkerCongestion is self evidently worse during peak hours and in central London and town centre areas.
Data collected on the Departmental's roads in connection with specific schemes shows a continuing slow increase in congestion over the last five years, although the M25 has already had beneficial effects in certain areas.
Implementation of the schemes already in the London trunk road programme will deal with most of the remaining trouble spots.
