HC Deb 01 July 1985 vol 82 c77W
30. Sir Bernard Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has now reached a decision on British Rail proposals for the Snow Hill tunnel.

Mr. David Mitchell

I have today written to the chairman of British Rail, giving approval for BR's plans to reinstate the Snow Hill link, and for the construction of new electric multiple units to operate services through the tunnel. The rolling stock cascade resulting from the introduction of these new vehicles will also benefit rail travellers on suburban services to both Liverpool Street and Euston. The scheme as a whole will cost £54 million.
