HL Deb 31 January 1985 vol 459 c822WA
The Marquess of Ailesbury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why a student applying only for a minimum maintenance grant is compelled to disclose his or her income.

The Earl of Swinton

Students who are fully supported by a sponsoring employer are not eligible for payment of grant. Details of the student's income could therefore be required of all students, including those seeking a minimum maintenance award, in order to establish that the student is not being supported by an employer, and is therefore eligible to receive grant.
