§ Mr. Ian StewartThe Government's latest estimate of the United Kingdom's net payments to the European Community institutions in the financial years 1984–85 and 1985–86 were recently published in the public expenditure White Paper, Cmnd, 9428. The calendar year is not an accounting period for purposes of United Kingdom expenditure and annual figures for United Kingdom payments by calendar year are available, only in arrears. Figures for 1984 will be available in due course when the December financial returns have been finalised.
