Studies by the Industrial Bio Test Laboratories were considered in respect of one artificial sweetener now permitted in the United Kingdom, namely hydrogenated glucose syrup. Of the two studies performed by IBT and reported in 1969 which are relevant to the safety evaluation of this sweetener, one has been repeated and confirmed by an independent laboratory while the other has been verified following audit by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States.
