§ Mr. ChannonTrade between Britain and the People's Republic of China continues to increase. The Government of the People's Republic of China have told the Government that China is aiming for sustained economic growth with emphasis on the development of energy, transport, communications and the modernisation of industry and agriculture, to which Britain can contribute. There are, therefore, good opportunities for a steady increase in trade, which are enhanced by our very good political relations. My noble Friend the Minister without Portfolio will shortly lead a high level trade mission to China, which I am sure will make a significant contribution to the development of trade between Britain and China.
