§ Mr. Allan StewartSince I visited the United States, I am aware that the following American companies have announced their intention to invest in Scotland:
- Gearhart Industries Inc.
- Hughes Microelectronics Ltd.

- Indy Electronics Inc.
- Burroughs Machines Ltd.
- Fibrmat Ltd.

- 3. W. L. Gore Associates at Dundee, Indy Electronics Inc. at Irvine, Burroughs Machines Ltd. at Livingston, Fibrmat Ltd. at East Kilbride and Glassfiake International Ltd. at Coatbridge qualified at their existing locations for regional development grants, and can do so again under the new scheme at those locations provided they have a suitable project.
- 4. Varian Associates Inc., Intertrade Scientific, Eaton Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Research Inc., which are sales and service companies located at Clydebank, did not qualify for regional development grants under the old scheme, but new investment may qualify at Clydebank under the new rules which now cover certain service activities.
