§ Mr. Wheelerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received representations from the Association of Chief Police Officers about the date set for the implementation of part IX of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
§ Mr. BrittanI met representatives of the association on Thursday 3 January. They indicated to me that in order to prepare their forces adequately to operate the new complaints and discipline procedures they would be assisted by a slight delay in the implementation of part IX of the 1984 Act. I have considered their representations and decided to defer the implementation from 1 March 1985 to 1 April 1985.
