§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke[pursuant to the reply, 9 January 1985, c. 480]: I have been asked to reply.
The relevant medical and scientific evidence has been considered, including that placed before Lord Jauncey in the Strathclyde court case, and subsequent studies. In particular, a comprehensive review of the epidemiological 6W evidence has recently been completed by a working party on fluoride and cancer, chaired by Professor E. G. Knox. This report has been published today and copies are available in the Vote Office. On this basis our medical and scientific advisers have been able to give authorities advice as to the safety of fluoridation.
