§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any views on the possibility of some clearing banks producing their own £1 notes.
§ Mr. Ian Stewart[pursuant to his reply, 9 January 1985, c. 486]: As I said in my reply on 26 November to my hon. Friend the Member for Bedfordshire, North (Mr. Skeet) at column 377 there are no plans to alter the provisions relating to private bank note issue.
