By the end of December 1984 292 of 367 local authorities concerned in England had made final claims for rate payments towards mandatory relief under section 1 of the Rating (Disabled Persons) Act 1978. In those authorities 65,889 households had received relief totalling £6,029,747, an average per household of £91.51.
