§ Dr. David Clarkasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will introduce legislation to clarify sections 14 and 35 of the Road Traffic Act 1972 concerning motor rallies on public rights of way; and whether in the meantime he will issue a departmental circular to local authorities reminding them of the correct procedures for the authorisation of such rallies.
§ Mrs. ChalkerConsideration is being given at present to the relationship between sections 14 and 35 of the Road Traffic Act 1972. If clarification is needed, legislation will be introduced when a suitable opportunity occurs. Advice to local authorities, in the form of a circular roads, would be premature at this time.
