§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Energy what action he is taking as a result of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate report, requested by the Sizewell B public inquiry, revealing weaknesses in procedure, ergonomics and human performance, following the incident at Heysham in June 1984; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GoodladBoth the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate and the Central Electricity Generating Board have given evidence on this incident at the Sizewell public inquiry. The CEGB has accepted fully the recommendations for improved practices in appropriate areas as outlined in a special internal inquiry. The incident was also investigated by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate and it has concluded that the measures being taken by the CEGB are satisfactory. It will continue to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of these measures.
