§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the appointments of the chairmen and members to district and regional health authorities made during the last five years fall within the guidelines issued in the National Health Services Act 1977.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe are not aware of any contravention of the National Health Service Act 1977 in appointments that have been made by Secretaries of State over the past five years. My right hon. Friend does not appoint members of district health authorities. He does appoint the chairmen and members of regional health authorities and the chairmen of district health authorities.
