asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the anticipated increase in costs this year to Thames water authority consumers.

Mr. Macfarlane

The increases in Thames water charges for 1985–86 will be determined only when the authority fixes its budget, probably in mid-February, but I expect the increases to be less than 10 per cent.
