HC Deb 09 January 1985 vol 70 cc459-60W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he is satisfied that the current strength of the RAF's United Kingdom-based maritime strike force is adequate for the United Kingdom's present defence needs; and whether he is satisfied that the Royal Air Force will have an adequate maritime strike capability for the next 10 years.

Mr. Stanley

I am satisfied that the RAF's United Kingdom-based maritime strike force represents a significant contribution to NATO's overall requirements for such aircraft and that the Buccaneer equipped with the Sea Eagle anti-ship missile will provide an effective maritime strike capability for the RAF into the mid-1990s.
