HC Deb 09 January 1985 vol 70 c453W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many murders have been committed in (a) County Armagh, (b) County Tyrone, (c) County Fermanagh and (d) County Londonderry since 1970 to the latest available date.

Mr. Scott

Criminal records are not retained on a county basis and to obtain all the information requested would involve disproportionate cost. However, a special exercise has produced a breakdown of murders on a county basis for the current year (up to 16 December): 10 murders have been committed in County Armagh, 14 in County Tyrone, 6 in County Fermanagh and 2 in County Londonderry. The numbers of murders between 1970 and 1983 in the police divisions which include the principal parts of each of the counties in question were as follows:RUC Division and No. of Murders

  • K (Co Armagh)—141
  • M (Co Tyrone)—71
  • L (Co Fermanagh)—75
  • N & O (Co Londonderry)—143
