On 4 November 1984 there were 1,398 Moslems in prison service establishments, at the locations set out as follows. An alternative to the normal prison diet is provided for those Moslems who request it. A vegetarian diet is generally available; and establishments are encouraged to provide halal meat on an occasional basis. Appropriate steps are taken to ensure that Moslem beliefs concerning the preparation of meals are respected.
