§ 17. Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to increase funds available to local authorities in connection with the implementation of the Housing Defects Act 1984.
§ Mr. GowResources for investment in housing by local authorities have been decided in the light of their obligations under the Housing Defects Act. For housing investment programme allocations, we have introduced an indicator in the generalised needs index reflecting the need for expenditure on prefabricated reinforced concrete houses, including those in private ownership; and special 473W needs for expenditure of this type have also been taken into account, where appropriate, through the local discretionary element.
