asked the Secretary of State for Employment what studies he has made of training apprenticeships involving specific skills organised for school leavers in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Training provision in the Federal Republic of Germany was considered in the Institute of Manpower Studies' recent report "Competence and Competition", sponsored by the Manpower Services Commission and the National Economic Development Office. In addition, I had the opportunity of seeing for myself the Federal Republic's arrangements for the transition from school to work during a visit there in 1983.
