HC Deb 09 January 1985 vol 70 cc481-2W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment to what criteria he gives priority in determining planning applications for new airports and for airport developments; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Macfarlane

Planning applications for all types of airport development are considered on their merits. The factors taken into account will vary according to the scale and type of development in question.

They will usually include the impact on the environment, and it is often necessary to weigh any adverse effects environmental or otherwise against the positive aspects of the public interest in the development.
