HC Deb 28 February 1985 vol 74 c254W
73. Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the operation of the licensing arrangements for wine tasting at English vineyards.

Mr. Mellor

We are aware that English wine producers favour amendments to the law on permitted opening hours for licensed premises to enable wine to be sold by the glass at vineyards during the afternoon. My right hon. and learned Friend has no immediate plans for legislation on the licensing law, but the views of English wine producers will be borne in mind in our current review of the licensing hours.
