§ 49. Mr. Moynihanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to what extent metropolitan district councils have assisted him in formulating his plans for the future of the police service in their districts following the abolition of the metropolitan county councils.
§ Mr. Giles ShawBesides the Association of Metropolitan Authorities, four metropolitan district councils commented individually on the proposals relating to the police service in the White Paper "Streamlining the Cities" published in October 1983. Some councils have since approached the Home Office on particular aspects of the Government's proposals. No other assistance has been offered.
