HC Deb 28 February 1985 vol 74 c228W
Mr. Michie

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local authority crime prevention schemes are currently funded through the urban aid programme.

Sir George Young

In 1984–85 the urban programme is funding some 300 projects promoted by local authorities which are intended to prevent crime, or alleviate its effects. The total value of these projects is approximately £6.3 million. Local authorities operate about 40 per cent. of these projects directly; the rest are run by voluntary organisations.
