HC Deb 28 February 1985 vol 74 c283W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has assessed the compulsory redundancies in the agricultural colleges in Scotland if his proposed cuts in the agricultural services for 1986–87 and 1987–88 are implemented and the effect this would have in the rural areas.

Mr. John MacKay

The staffing implications of the planned reduction in funding depend on the outcome of current discussions with the Scottish agricultural colleges about ways in which they might accommodate reduced levels of funding in the years in question, and on the nature and extent of the contribution towards the cost of these services from those who benefit from them.
