asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will provide further support for the expansion of computer facilities in primary and secondary schools.

The provision of computers in schools is primarily the responsibility of local education authorities. My Department is considering, however, whether to provide any further assistance to LEAs and schools to build on the success of the micros in schools scheme.
