HC Deb 27 February 1985 vol 74 c168W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Prime Minister if she gave any consideration to flying from the United States of America into Manchester international airport last week when it was learnt that London's Heathrow airport was likely to be non-operational due to freezing fog; and why, to avoid delay, she did not seek to fly into Manchester.

The Prime Minister

Yes. I considered flying to Manchester or Prestwick. But subsequent checks with the Royal Air Force showed that Heathrow would be open on the morning of 22 February and that I could fly there with only minimal loss of working time.
