HC Deb 27 February 1985 vol 74 c170W
Mr. John Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment in whose ownership and control are the premises acquired for Brixton Cares for Kids through the inner city partnership scheme; when funding ceased for that project and why; when funding will be resumed; and what lessons are to be drawn from this project.

Sir George Young

The premises acquired for Brixton Cares for Kids are owned by Lambeth council. The final grant payment under the urban programme was made when the project dissolved itself in September 1984. In the circumstances, the question of resuming funding does not arise.

The inquiry referred to in my answer of 14 November at columns 283–84, has yet to complete its work; I understand that Lambeth council has undertaken to keep the hon. Member informed of developments.
