asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what assistance his Department is offering to companies to help them to develop alternative suitable materials to asbestos.

Mr. Trippier

My Department is assisting under the support for innovation scheme a number of asbestos substitution projects, the details of which are subject to commercial confidentiality. The scheme is currently under review.
