§ Mrs. ChalkerThe total length of central reserve safety fencing installed on motorways in England is 1,440 miles. On trunk roads in England it is approximately 220120W miles. Trunk roads and motorways in Scotland and Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and for Wales. I have no detailed knowledge of the provision of safety fences on other roads which are dealt with by the local highway authorities.
