HC Deb 26 February 1985 vol 74 c146W
Mr. Gould

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on how many occasions the Commission has taken up cases of suspected quota evasion with multi-fibre arrangement supplier countries in 1983 and 1984; and, of these, how many have involved the suspected evasion of multi-fibre arrangement quotas for the United Kingdom.

Mr. Hayhoe

I do not have this information about actions of the European Commission.

Mr. Gould

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on how many occasions his Department has detected the fraudulent importation of textile and clothing products covered by multi-fibre arrangement quotas in the United Kingdom in 1983 and 1984; and what penalties were subsequently imposed on the exporting companies concerned and on the exporting countries concerned.

Mr. Hayhoe

The information asked for in the first part of the question could be obtained only at a disproportionate cost. The matters dealt with in the second part are for the Commission.
